What if scrappy hustle got you started in your coaching business, but now it's the very thing holding you back from growing your income? I'm Kendall, and in this episode of the Money Coach School podcast, we're talking about why shifting out of hustle and stepping into money leadership, that is, this is really your key to building sustainable, next-level income so that you're making more money and keeping more money, which is the best part.

So I'm breaking down four powerful money shifts every coach must make to go from scattered hustle to sustainable overflow. Whether you're scaling from $10,000 months or you're just getting started, this episode will help you stop waiting for, quote, "more money," to start leading in your relationship with money so that you can build your next level of income with power and simplicity. It's all here for you in this episode of The Money Coach School Podcast. Let's dive in.

Welcome to The Money Coach School Podcast. To really excel at coaching women, you have to be skilled, confident, and even fearless at money coaching. If you're passionate about women holding genuine money power and love supporting women entrepreneurs, then this is the show for you. Now, here's your host, money feminist Kendall SummerHawk.

Hello, beautiful coach. Welcome back to The Money Coach School Podcast. Today's episode is for you if you've been building your coaching business out of grit, heart, and hustle. And oh, I so understand because that's who I am too. So you've made things happen with sticky notes, late nights, and coffee-fueled courage. For me, it's just dark chocolate; I don't drink coffee. And it's worked.

You've created some momentum. You've signed clients. Maybe you've even hit some of those $10,000 months. But now the question is, what's next? Because the way you start a coaching business is not the same energy that will sustain it. And if you're newer in your coaching business and haven't yet hit those $10,000 months, this episode is going to help you introduce strategy earlier so that you're creating sustainability sooner.

So let's talk about what that transition really looks like from hustle to more sustainability in both practical and energetic terms.

Number one, you stop proving, you start choosing. So in that scrappy phase, you're in constant motion. You're proving you can do it. Everything is brand new, which means everything takes more effort. It takes longer and you are figuring out every detail as you go. You're throwing offers out, you're tweaking your social media, you're rethinking your niche for the umpteenth time, and you are recalibrating constantly. It's like every three months is a reset and recalibrate and make changes. And that's not wrong. That's normal and at the early stage is actually necessary.

And it makes sense because you don't yet have experience to lean on. So instead, you're relying on grit. And grit is something that I hold near and dear to my heart. To me, grit is sacred. You'll return to it actually every time you step into a next level. There's always a level of grit that you're going to have to pull forward and lean on as you step into that next level.

But here's the shift. When your income starts to stabilize, meaning that you have money coming in every month. It may not always be the same amount. It may not come in regularly every day or once a week. It's not a job, but you do have income starting to come in consistently. The question changes from, "Well, what more can I do?" to "What do I actually want to keep doing?" You begin choosing your actions with intention. You move from survival energy to strategic leadership. You move from hustling to refining. And that shift, it requires a new relationship with money.

You're moving from money urgency to money stewardship. And I know that even when you're bringing in clients, it may not feel stable. I get that. But like I said, if you have client income coming in every month, your business is more stable than you're probably giving yourself credit for.

All right, number two, scrappy will not make you sustainable. The mistake I see so many women coaches make, even as they start earning, is that their relationship with money stays stuck in survival mode. And I've seen this with women making their first $2,000 or $3,000 as a coach. I've seen it with women making consistently $200,000 and $300,000, $500,000 a year as a coach. The money relationship stays stuck in survival mode. They're still operating in feast to famine cycles. They're still making urgent, emotionally reactive decisions, and they haven't yet grown into financial leadership.

And that, my beautiful soul, is going to cost you. It is going to cost you buckets of money in terms of profit leaks. It will cost you peace of mind and money anxiety, and it will keep you making money decisions that don't promote you both making and keeping more money.

So for example, one of the coaches inside my Secret Energy of Money Mastermind came into the group in this exact place: up and down income, a lot of debt that was continuing to grow, overpaying contractors, wanting to focus on a new niche but really unclear who that would be and what that would be, and overall feeling like she was pedaling as fast as she could but not really getting anywhere and even going backwards financially.

Now this is someone who's made many 5-figure months and had 6-figure years. But when I looked at her business, it looked like she had just started a few months ago. Too much team spend, too much financial chaos, no savings, no clarity, and honestly, no joy. She was tired, she was anxious, and couldn't see how to get ahead.

Everything changed though for her when she stopped waiting for more money and started leading with the money that she had. You know, fast forward to today, and her business looks so different with the money coaching that we've done in Secret Energy of Money. She got rid of the expensive contractors. I was so excited on that day. She started her money peace account. She's paying down her debt and not adding to it, which is huge. She birthed a new niche that is lucrative and is keeping her booked out with clients, and she's doing work she is loving. And referring clients are coming in and she's profitable.

Now that's the difference between being scrappy and being strategic. And it always starts with how you relate to money. Please, as your money coach, I want you to write that down. It always starts with how you relate to money. Now I'm so proud of her and all my clients inside Secret Energy of Money because they don't wait to have more money before enrolling. They enroll so that they can learn how to have more money.

All right, number three, you can't out-earn your old money language. I've talked about this before, and I think it's so important because it's the a piece that most coaches miss and where I want to go a little deeper with you here today. So shifting your money strategy means you have to shift your language around money. Because how you speak about money reveals how you relate to it. So words like, "I need to make money this week. I can't raise my rates right now. I always get stuck at this level. I never feel like there's enough." Those types of phrases are what I call the language of absolutes. And that creates a money drama loop.

It keeps you stuck in the identity of your past money story, and it trains your brain to look for problems and obstacles, not possibilities and opportunities. And it repels the very growth that you say that you want. But the cure here is really simple and powerful. Start asking questions like this: What is possible for me right now is… and fill in the blank. You're looking for something that's possible.

Another question, what opportunity does this open up for me? This is where you're getting really curious and training your brain to look for opportunities.

Another question is, what's the decision I can make today that aligns with my vision of success? I love that question. So future focused. I love it. And the last example question is, how would a woman who leads her money speak about this? Right? Who leads her money, who is self-led with money. How does she speak about this? This is how you begin to live into a new money story. You're creating it in real time, not just with mindset, but with your words, your energy, and your choices.

And number four, financial leadership isn't a future goal, it's a now decision. Financial leadership doesn't start after your next big launch. It starts now with what you already have, even if that's $5, it doesn't matter. Building overflow, paying yourself, creating your money peace account, setting money boundaries. These aren't advanced level practices. They really not. These are actually entry level requirements for the next level of your business. Think of them as the doorway to that next level of your business, business growth, business profitability, more cash coming to you, more cash in the bank.

And here's what I want you to hear. Waiting to, quote, "have more money," quote, before you step into leadership, it's a form of money avoidance. It tells the universe, "Hey, I'm not ready. I don't trust myself. I'm okay staying exactly where I am." But that's not who you are. You're a woman of wealth. In your heart, you're a woman of wealth, and it's time your money practices reflect that truth.

So to wrap up here, money is ready for more of you. And here's the truth I want to leave you with. Money does not need you to be perfect. It needs you to be present. It needs your attention, it needs your leadership, it needs your love. Because your next level isn't about working harder, it's about cleaning up the money noise so that you can finally earn and receive and keep more.

So if you're ready to step into overflow, into ease, clarity, and higher earning decisions, then I want to invite you into my new free workshop called Overflow: The Key to Unlocking Your Million Dollar Business.
