Right now, many women entrepreneurs are navigating a world that feels intense, fast-moving, and uncertain. And if you’re building a business inside that, you may notice something subtle but powerful. You’re not just making money decisions, you’re feeling them.
Your awareness is picking up on clients, family, the economy, and the bigger picture of your financial life. But here’s what most business conversations miss: that sensitivity isn’t a weakness. It’s one of your greatest sources of financial power.
In this episode, I’m naming the emotional labor women carry around money. Over time, this emotional load can make money feel heavier than it needs to. But when you see it clearly, something powerful happens. The same sensitivity that’s been pulling you into pressure can be redirected into clarity, strength, and leadership.
Listen in this week to learn the two patterns that create emotional labor around money, the reframe that turns sensitivity into financial power, and what shifts when you stop carrying money alone and start leading it instead.

Hey, beautiful coach. Right now, so many women entrepreneurs are navigating a world that feels intense. It feels fast-moving and it feels uncertain. And if you're running a business inside all of that, you may notice that you're not just making money decisions, you're feeling them. Your sensitivity is picking up on economic headlines, client needs, family responsibilities, and the bigger financial picture of your life. But here's the perspective most business conversations miss. The very sensitivity that can make money feel heavy is also one of the greatest sources of financial power in your business.
I'm Kendall, and in this episode of The Money Coach School Podcast, we're talking about the emotional labor women carry around money, the two patterns that you can shift to step into your financial leadership, and the reframe that turns sensitivity into clarity and stronger decisions and real income growth. So if you're ready to feel stronger with money, then this episode is for you. It's all here for you inside this episode of The Money Coach School Podcast. Let's dive in.
Welcome to The Money Coach School Podcast. To really excel at coaching women, you have to be skilled, confident, and even fearless at money coaching. If you're passionate about women holding genuine money power and love supporting women entrepreneurs, then this is the show for you. Now, here's your host, money feminist Kendall SummerHawk.
Hello, beautiful coach. Welcome back to today's episode of The Money Coach School Podcast. I want to start today by not staying silent about what many women entrepreneurs are feeling right now. Let's face it, the world feels heavy. There is a lot happening inside the United States, and of course, that ripples out across the entire world. There's economic uncertainty and political tension that are really the primary drivers of all this. The pace of change is fast, and the emotional atmosphere around money can be really intense. And if you're a woman running a business inside all of this, there's a good chance that you're not just making money decisions, you're actually carrying money emotionally throughout the day.
So for example, you notice the economic headlines and you're wondering what it means for your business. You think about your clients and whether this is the right time to invite them into a new offer. You think about the team members or the contractors that you hire and maybe feeling that responsibility for their livelihood. You think about your family finances and the role your business plays in the bigger picture of your security and freedom. Now, none of that shows up on a spreadsheet, but it absolutely lives in your nervous system. And over time, it becomes a kind of invisible emotional labor around money that most business conversations just never acknowledge.
You're not just making financial decisions. You're also managing how those decisions might affect the people connected to your business. And when that responsibility runs in the background day after day, money can start to feel heavier than it really needs to. Now, trust me, I feel you. So today, I want to name that experience directly. You know I don't spend very much time on social media, but when I do, what I see is that no one is talking about this. So we're feeling it, right? But no one's saying anything. And that can be very isolating.
So we're going to take care of that here today, you and I, because once you see it clearly, something very powerful becomes possible. That same sensitivity that has been pulling you into worry and responsibility, trust me, I am the poster girl for that, can also become one of your greatest sources of financial strength. So in this episode, I want to walk you through three things. Number one, I'm going to walk you through the two patterns that cause women to carry so much emotional labor around money. Number two, I'm going to walk you through a reframe that turns sensitivity into financial power. And number three, I'm going to walk you through what changes in your income and financial stability when you stop carrying money this way and you start leading it instead.
Because in the end, my vision for you is this: that you have a way of relating to money that is light, that feels connected and grounded, that you bring strength and leadership to. And a relationship with money that feels reciprocal. My vision for you is that the way you relate to money shifts so that you feel equally supported and in leadership.
All right, so before we dive in, go ahead and click the follow button that's right around where you're watching this episode or listening to this episode from. I'm your money coach. Every episode is here to strengthen your leadership, to strengthen your cash flow, to strengthen your authority with money. So you don't want to miss an episode. Go ahead and click that follow button right now. All right, so let's dive into number one, the two patterns that cause women to carry so much emotional labor around money.
So pattern number one is emotional over-responsibility about money. Women, let's face it. We are wired and we are socialized to notice emotional cues very early. And I talk about this in a lot of my episodes here. So we're socialized to anticipate needs, to smooth tension, to maintain harmony, to make sure people around us feel comfortable and supported. And those qualities are deeply valuable, absolutely. They are a big part of why women become thoughtful leaders, why we become attentive coaches and intuitive entrepreneurs.
But when that same sensitivity gets directed towards money, it can turn into patterns that drain your energy. So for example, you replay financial decisions long after they've been made. You feel responsible for solving a client's financial hesitation. You delay introducing an offer or raising your rate because you don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable, you don't want to rock the boat. And you worry about how economic changes might affect your clients. What's happening here is that your sensitivity, which is such a strength, has been pointed towards managing everyone else's emotional experience around money. And that leads to the second pattern.
Pattern number two is carrying money alone. When you take emotional responsibility for everyone's experience about money, something else often happens. You start carrying money by yourself. Makes sense, right? So you may recognize some of this. You carry the stress of inconsistent income even when no one else knows about it. You feel pressure to make the right financial decisions because other people depend on your business. You think about your clients, your contractors, and your family long before you think about your own financial stability. And maybe you calculate how long the business could sustain things if revenue slowed down.
So for many women entrepreneurs, money becomes something that you manage internally and emotionally, even when the business is growing. Which leads me to number two, which is the reframe that turns sensitivity into financial power. Sensitivity is not the problem at all. If you've ever been told, "Oh, you're so sensitive," or, "You're too sensitive," which is something I've been told all my life. Yeah, no, sorry, sensitivity is a gift. It is an absolute freaking gift. I am so grateful that I am as sensitive as I am. Sensitivity is not the problem. Misplaced responsibility, that's the problem.
Your sensitivity is actually one of the greatest advantages you have in your business. But it has to be pointed towards the right things. So instead of using all that awareness to manage everyone else's emotions around money, you want to start using that awareness to lead financial decisions. And that shift can look like instead of sensing a client's hesitation and pulling back, you recognize hesitation as being just part of their decision process, and you stay grounded in the value of your work.
Instead of lowering or questioning your price, you use your understanding of the transformation that you provide to stand behind your pricing. Instead of trying to make every financial conversation comfortable for everybody else, you lead clear conversations about value and results and investment. And instead of absorbing financial fear from the environment, oh, it's so easy to do that, right? But don't do that. Instead, you focus your attention on the numbers that actually drive your revenue and profit inside of your business.
So your sensitivity, it doesn't disappear. You don't need to mitigate it, you don't need to dampen it down. What happens is by redirecting it this way, it becomes discernment. It becomes clarity and it leads you to financial leadership. When your sensitivity is directed towards leadership instead of emotional management, something really important changes. The emotional energy that used to go towards worry starts going toward designing a stronger financial foundation for your business.
Let me give you some examples of what that can look like. It can look like deciding what your work is worth and allowing clients to decide if it's right for them. There are plenty of clients out there in the world. How many billions of people are there on the planet? Trust me, there's plenty of clients for you. It can look like setting clear pricing and payment standards in your business. It looks like allowing clients to take responsibility for their own financial decisions, not trying to climb into their wallet. I started that concept 20 years ago. Don't climb into someone else's wallet. It can look like structuring your offers so that revenue is predictable and repeatable.
It can look like building cash reserves so that decisions come from stability instead of pressure and panic. And it can look like prioritizing profit, so love that, so that your business can support both growth and security. So instead of spending emotional energy managing money stress, you start using that energy to build financial strength inside your business. And this is where money mentorship spaces become so powerful. Because when you're involved in money mentoring, when you're receiving money mentoring where women like you are learning money strategy together, something changes.
Instead of privately carrying financial pressure, you start making decisions with guidance, with structure, and with real financial strategy. And that's exactly the work we do inside Secret Energy of Money, which is my money mentoring mastermind. Women come into Secret Energy of Money thinking they need better marketing or more clients, but very often, the real shift happens when they stop carrying financial pressure alone, and they start learning how to structure their business for income growth and profit and cash stability.
All right, now number three, what changes in your income and financial stability when you stop carrying money by yourself and you start leading it instead? So when you stop making yourself responsible for everyone else's emotional experience around money, something very practical shifts. Your thinking becomes clearer when you're making financial decisions. You introduce an offer when the opportunity is there instead of circling that desire and decision for months on end. You present opportunities to clients without rehearsing how to hedge the conversation. You don't need to hedge here. You recognize when a client's hesitation belongs to them instead of absorbing it as something that you need to resolve because you don't need to do that.
And you review the numbers in your business with curiosity instead of looking for signs that something is wrong. You decide more quickly about pricing and offers and investments because your energy is no longer tied up in managing everyone else's reactions. And that shift frees up an incredible amount of mental and energetic space. And that space is what allows you to focus on the things that actually increase revenue, serving clients brilliantly, actually, strengthening your offers, and building the financial structure of your business.
And this is where the strategy of overflow becomes so powerful. So overflow, this is my signature strategy, it's not just a mindset. It's actually a financial strategy, very, very simple one, designed to increase profit and cash inside of your business. And it means structuring your business so that revenue doesn't just pass through, it accumulates. So overflow includes increasing your profit margin, it includes strengthening and raising your pricing, it includes building significant cash reserves, and it includes consistently retaining more of the money that your business generates.
So instead of constantly managing financial pressure, you begin creating real cash stability and profit in your business. Amen to that, right, sister? So this is exactly why I created my free Overflow workshop, which I would love to have you attend. You can get yourself registered at www.KendallSummerHawk.com/overflow. I'll put the link for that in the show notes as well.
You know, many women entrepreneurs don't need to pile on more strategies. Oh my God, you guys are full up with strategies. What changes everything is shifting the way that you relate to money itself. When that relationship becomes clear and confident and emotionally unburdened, your decisions change, and so does the level of income then that your business can create. And we see this with, you know, client after client after client inside of Secret Energy of Money. I could do a whole episode just on client successes. Maybe I'll plan that and do that soon.
So inside the free Overflow workshop, I'm going to walk you through the emotional and strategic shifts. They're money strategies that allow income to expand quickly and far more easily. And if you want to go deeper into this work, that's exactly what we do inside Secret Energy of Money, because if the emotional patterns about money are still running in the background, those patterns of over-responsibility, financial pressure, feeling like everything depends on you, it becomes very difficult to create the level of income that you're actually truly capable of.
Inside Secret Energy of Money, we work directly with those patterns while also installing the very simple financial strategies that allow your business to generate consistent income, a very strong profit, and really healthy cash reserves. All right, so to wrap up now, the world is moving quickly. We get that. I mean, the pace of everything over the last six months has blown my mind. You know, every year is faster and faster, but the last six months has felt like three years already. Economic conditions are changing, politics are incredibly divisive, technology is changing. Your sensitivity allows you to notice those shifts early, but it's knowing how to direct your sensitivity that gives you power, strength, and the ability to increase your income, no matter what the world is doing.
When you stop carrying money emotionally and start structuring your business for profit and for cash reserves and income growth, something very practical happens. Your business becomes financially strong. Your income becomes reliable, and you start creating the kind of cash stability, you can tell I'm all about the cash, right? Cash stability that actually supports the life that you want to live. And that's what overflow is designed to help you create.
So if this conversation resonated with you, I invite you to join me inside my free Overflow workshop. In that training, I'm going to walk you through the exact shifts that allow women like you, women entrepreneurs, to stop carrying money so emotionally and to start structuring their businesses for profit, cash reserves, and real financial momentum.
